Food must seduce, shape, and perhaps more importantly evoke an emotional response.

It was a dark and stormy night, when suddenly the door burst open and a figure in white walked towards me holding a white plate. I covered my mouth. He came closer and gently placed the plate before me. I gasped. My eyes grew wide as I took in the artistry on the plate. I picked up my spoon and scooped up a morsel and slowly savoured the texture and taste. I was in heaven. I leapt up and gave Chef Ryan a great big hug!

My name is Celina and that dude with the glasses is my partner in crime and chef at EVOKE. 5 years ago, we worked together and I will never forget the first time I tasted his food. I think I scared him a little when I hugged him but after that, we became good buddies, even after we went our separate ways. We’d always call each other up to ‘yum cha’ to catch up.

But last year, everything changed. We were fighting an invisible enemy. With no light at the end of the tunnel, I decided to take the bull by its horns and start up my own restaurant. Why not? The opportunity was there and if not now, when? I met up with Ryan and blurted out my ideas to him. His jaw dropped and he asked “Are you sure you want to do this now?”. I nodded furiously. After many teh tariks, wines, beers, he looked at me and said quietly. “OK Celina, let’s do this”.

So, what’s our thing? We both loveeeeee European food. The different textures, combination of ingredients, the techniques of cooking. So, it was only natural that went with that, but to support the local industry, we decided to source as many ingredients locally.

Our menu is a combo lah. We have both been in F&B for so long and the menu reflects all our different experiences in different restaurants in different countries. It’s the best of the best, in our opinion. Each dish reminds us of a certain memory at a certain place in time.
